The Six Sigma Lean Black Belt in Government (SSBBG)™ certification has been developed exclusively for the Management and Strategy Institute.  It is designed to give the student a solid understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles and how they are used within the complex infrastructure of the government.  Whether you work at the state or federal level, this Six Sigma Lean Black Belt Certification with Government concentration will give you an understanding of the Lean Six Sigma principles needed to streamline government processes in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

The mission of any government agency is to provide services to the public.  Because these agencies are publicly funded, keeping costs under control is critical to the success of the agency.  A properly run Lean Six Sigma initiative can help eliminate waste from operational processes.  This means less waste of taxpayer money and more money available for that agency to provide services.

Black Belts can work with interdepartmental leadership to reduce red tape and over-regulation within government sectors.  They can use Design for Six Sigma to develop new processes within government, before those processes have a chance to break down.  Black Belts use the DMAIC method to look at the cause-and-effect of regulations and procedures and make determinations on what processes can be improved.

As our national debt continues to rise, the need for certified Black Belts working in government will continue to increase.   Lean Black Belts are being used in almost every sector of the government.  They help protect public funding by streamlining internal processes and keeping process-waste to a minimum.
We also offer a Six Sigma Black Belt Certification and Six Sigma Lean Black Belt Certification without the Government component for those who do not want their certification to have a Government concentration.

Is the Lean Black Belt in Government Certification Test Difficult?
Certification exams through the Management and Strategy Institute are designed to test your fundamental understanding of a subject.  The Six Sigma Lean Black belt in Government certification exam is an “open note” exam, meaning you may use any notes you’ve taken while studying.  The exam is timed, so you will not be able to look up answers to questions while taking the test.  You will not have access to the online study material while taking the exam and you may not stop the exam once it has begun.  It is very important that you have a solid understanding of Six Sigma and Lean principles before attempting the exam or you will not pass.

How in-depth is the training?
The Six Sigma Lean Black Belt in Government certification, by definition, is a high-level certification.  It is designed to give you a solid understanding of most facets of Six Sigma.  This also includes an understanding of Lean processes and how it is used in conjunction with Six Sigma.  It does not require a project to complete.  This professional development course was designed to teach someone with little knowledge of Six Sigma the basic skills needed to function as a Lean Black Belt on a Six Sigma team.  All required training material is included with the cost of the exam.  Many executive jobs today require that their employees have at least a basic understanding of Six Sigma.  For an example, click on this job search link to see how many positions mention the words "Lean Six Sigma Black Belt".  You can also search for government jobs for Six Sigma on USAjobs.

Is there an additional study guide I can order?
Yes, MSI offers the "Six Sigma Black Belt Core Concepts Guide" for those who would like to order a book to assist with their studies.  This pocket guide not only helps prepare you for the exam, but also makes the perfect reference book for future use.  Remember, this book is not required since digital study material is included for free with your purchase.  This book can be ordered here.

How long is the training course?
The training course is self-paced. Time to complete and fully comprehend will vary with every individual. It may take several days or weeks of study before you feel comfortable to take the final test. You may take the final exam as soon as you're ready. You have 1 year from the date of purchase to complete the course.

Reviews:
"I work for a state agency in California and Lean Six Sigma is practiced here.  We've seen significant savings of tax payer dollars by implementing Lean projects across the department.  We've run Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Design for Six Sigma programs and they have all been a benefit." - Doug D.

"Many departments at the state-level in Texas have implemented Lean Six Sigma, partially because of all the government contracting available and the benefit of savings.  If you want to move up the ladder to a higher paying management position, you better have Lean Six Sigma training." - Greg V.

"I was an elected official for 3 years and saw first-hand the benefits of Lean in government.  After leaving office, I searched for a good Lean certification program and found the online program that MSI offers.  This program definitely reinforces what I saw first-hand at the federal level." Kim S.
