Six Sigma Project Simulator
The Six Sigma Project Simulation in Logistics is designed to guide you through the development of a Six Sigma project. To do this, you'll create a Six Sigma project case study that examines a fictional logistics company. What is a case study? It's a descriptive research paper that looks at a subject then completes an analysis of that subject. You'll collect data about the supplied company and their processes, then analyze that data. You'll start by defining the overall case study, then provide a brief but detailed history and background of the company and its problems. Using the DMAIC method you'll collect, measure, and analyze the problems and develop an improvement plan and a control method for that improvement.
This scenario will allow you to review and write a Case Study regarding the use of Lean and Six Sigma Tools in the realm of Logistics. The Logistics industry has its own intricacies which provide opportunity for Six Sigma and Lean projects. The logistical industry is a fundamental component of the heartbeat of America. Very few products you order do not touch some facet of the logistical industry. It is virtually impossible for most products to arrive at your home, business, or industry without touching a plane, train, truck, or ship.
What are the requirements to complete this simulation?
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt from MSI or another organization.
- Strong writing skills
- Strong critical-thinking skills
Why should I complete a Six Sigma project simulation?
Getting your six sigma certification is a great way to show self-initiative and knowledge, but it doesn’t show that you have demonstrated that knowledge within an actual project. Sometimes, employers or companies are looking for someone with both a certification and a demonstrated ability to apply those learned principles.
This Six Sigma Project Simulator is designed to present you with a project scenario which you will study and then write a Case Study for. This will help reinforce the information you learned when preparing for your Black Belt certification.
Is this the same as working on a real project?
No simulation or case study can truly mimic the experience of working on a real project with real outcomes. Unfortunately, most people do not have access to a real project unless they happen to be working for a company that is actively engaged in a six sigma initiative. This Six Sigma Project Simulator is designed to give you hands-on practice with working on a project. You will create a project charter and write a case study regarding the project.
As a Six Sigma Black Belt in a real world project, you would develop your six sigma project plan and then implement it. In a project simulation, you will develop your six sigma plan, then write a case study about it instead.
I’ve never written a case study, are there resources?
Yes, this simulator will provide you with all the information you need to prepare your Case Study. There is a Case Study template which you'll download and use as you develop the Case Study. There are also numerous resources online to assist you. You will be provided links for some of those resources.
Can I “fail” the project simulation?
This project simulation is not a pass/fail scenario. It is designed to give you some hands-on experience with writing a Project Charter and Case Study regarding Six Sigma. If the paper you submit is missing any of the required elements, you will be notified of any discrepancies so that you can correct and resubmit the case study. You have a maximum of 1 year to complete it.
What software is required?
You must be able to view PDF files and view/edit Microsoft Word & Excel files.
What will I receive once the Case Study is completed?
You will receive our professional certificate & transcripts. The transcripts give a general synopsis of the six sigma project simulation that you've completed.
How long will it take to complete?
A typical case study of this scenario is expected to be around 8-10 pages. Your project case study must include all of the key required elements. You must also complete and submit a project charter. Time to complete will depend on your writing skills and time to dedicate to the project. You have 1 year from the date of purchase to complete the program.
